Three easy ways to lower your electric bill

We all enjoy our air conditioning, home appliances, and electronic devices, but during certain times of year, the electric bill gets so high that you often expect to hear a drum roll when you open the envelope. Utility billing rates continue to climb, and there seems to be no end in sight: is there anything that we can do to get relief?

Since 1978, Gary Houston Electric has been one of the top electrical contractors in Arkansas, and we love finding ways to save our clients money! We believe that the best way to be the top electrician in Little Rock is by making a commitment to providing legendary customer service on every job, and doing whatever it takes to earn your repeat business. We’re always a phone call away if you want to schedule an energy efficiency evaluation for your home, and we also suggest a few easy things that you can do on your own:

Storm Windows and Doors-Storm windows and doors are a great investment that increases the resale value of your home, and can lead to immediate energy savings. Some manufacturers and utility companies also offer rebates or tax incentives. And if storm windows are something that you can’t afford right now, inexpensive weatherstripping and door draft guards are a good temporary solution.

Programmable Thermostats-There are a wide variety of programmable thermostats that you can set to adjust your home temperature while you and your family are asleep and at work and school. Many of the newer models also come with Bluetooth/wi-fi capability, and you can adjust them remotely from a smart phone app!

LED lighting-If you haven’t made the upgrade to LED lighting, what’s stopping you? LED bulbs provide the same amount of light at a fraction of the wattage. They are more expensive than conventional incandescent bulbs, but they have an operational lifespan of 5 years or more, and don’t have to be replaced nearly as often!
